Top 5: Places to Eat in Rarotonga

Everyone looks forward to tasting delicious foods whilst exploring another country. People diet to get their bikini bodies ready to hit the beach and then gorge as soon as they see the buffet breakfast for the first time! Food is exciting as it can give you a feeling of happiness and comfort which is why we've included our top 5 food picks from our recent trip to Rarotonga:

1. Vili's Burger Joint in Muri Lagoon

The best burgers on the island! 10/10 for freshness and flavour. You can get fish, fried chicken or beef with a secret sauce, can of soft drink and crispy chips on the side for about $20 AUD.

2. La Casita in Muri Lagoon

If Mexican food is up your ally then you definitely need to scooter on down to La Casita for dinner to get your daily fix of either tacos, nachos, enchiladas, quesadillas or fajitas! La Casita has it all with equally delicious tequila based cocktails to wash it all down with (and give you a little holiday buzz) but they are around the same cost as your meal so expect to spend around $32 AUD per person.

3. Charlie's Beach Cafe in Titikaveka

With one of the best views in town, it's hard not to fall in love with Charlie's Beach Cafe. You can embrace the cultural music with live bands playing nearly every day and local seafood that would make a seal salivate. Easily one of the most memorable food experiences of this trip was a monster of a barramundi grilled and served in a sumptuous turkish bread roll with house made aioli sauce for only $13 AUD! They also have a huge range of beverages for those who want to stay a little longer and enjoy the cultural experience.

4. Tumunu's Tropical Garden Restaurant in Ara Tapu

Clearly inspired by a patriotic Welshman with a love of rugby and history, and an even deeper passion for delicious "island portion" food and cocktails! If you are feeling extremely hungry from a day of activities or if you are like me, just love food, pop into Tumunu's to enjoy a mammoth New Zealand rib-eye steak or seafood platter big enough to climb and take an insta-photo from the top. Reasonably priced at only $105 for 2 people including 2 x extra large delectable cocktails and plenty of food.

5. Nautilus Resort in Muri Lagoon

Our trusty hosts also happened to have our absolute favourite restaurant on the entire island, not just because it was 20 metres from our room, but because you won't find better service nor food anywhere else! A modern and contemporary fine dining menu is set to please any foodies and those looking for a romantic beachfront dinner. With such meals as the theatrical Nauti Fish Sizzler, which boasts a hot stone cooked local parrot fish enveloped in an aromatic smoke that makes everyone else in the restaurant jealous. It may not come cheap, so save it for a special occasion with your loved ones. For 3 selected courses, expect to pay $61 AUD per person.
